Salute For Service
Salute For Service aims to help Australian veterans and emergency responders feel secure, confident, and in control of their mental health, so they can live a fulfilled and meaningful life after returning from service. It’s a great initiation and nonprofit organisation that we think more people should know about — so we caught up with the CEO Ben to hear their story!
About the project
We started in early 2020, we began in the fitness industry servicing a lot of clients in emergency services and the veteran field. After working with these clients we found that these people weren’t getting the support they needed so decided to take things into our own hands and start our own organisation.
We run our operations out of our head office in Queensland however, our services extend nationwide.
Our mission is to actively seek troubled individuals who fall within these demographics and provide funding to the services that best fit their needs.
Who we work with
We help Australian Veterans and Emergency Service Workers feel in control of their mental health, so they can live a fulfilled and meaningful life.
We’ve partnered with veteran mindfulness Australia to help veterans and emergency services workers get funding to go through their program. It’s an 18 month, self-paced online health initiative and wellness program.
So far, we’ve helped more than 200 veterans go through the program in the short time we’ve been incorporated.
Our values
We are a young organisation but we’ve got big plans for the future. We’re hoping to place a strong focus over the next 12 months on emergency service workers specifically, having dealt with Covid-19 for the past 18 months and being on the front line, we’re finding that more and more of these people are looking for help.
We want to promote awareness of mental health-related and normalises conversations around PTSD, anxiety and depression among veterans, emergency workers, as well as the general public.
We hope to educate and equip people struggle with the tools and knowledge to maintain control of their mental health, including overcoming new challenges that may arise.
